Personal Chef

FAQs

Q:

What is a personal chef?

A:

A personal chef offers the professional service of meal preparation. Each client's individual taste and diet determines his or her customized menu. These personalized meals are prepared in a client's home and then packaged, labeled and stored in the refrigerator or freezer. For more information on personal chefs and what we do, visit the American Personal & Private Chef Association website at www.personalchef.com.

Q:

What does a personal chef service include?

A:

While each person has different needs and wants, a personal chef service generally includes all aspects of preparing fresh, natural, healthy meals; including:

  • Customized Menu Planning
  • Grocery Shopping
  • In-home meal preparation
  • Storage AND Cleanup!

Q:

Can you prepare meals and deliver them to my home?

A:

The greatest thing about the Brown bag service is that every meal is prepared fresh in your home.  You know the day it was prepared and what ingredients have been used.  Meals prepared elsewhere can be done so far in advance, compromising flavor and possibly creating a food safety issue.  This is one of the reasons why local health code prohibits personal chefs from preparing food in their own homes and delivering it to others.

Q:

Can you provide service for a party I am having?

A:

Absolutely!  Any party you are having in your home can be accommodated, from a romantic dinner for two to an open house for 75 people.

Q:

Can you supply the wine and/or beer for my party?

A:

State liquor laws prohibit the Brown bag from providing any alcoholic beverages. We can, however, recommend wines that will pair with your chosen menu.

Q:

I am on a special diet. Can you accommodate me?

A:

the Brown bag service includes an initial consultation to determine your specific needs. If you or a family member has specific dietary requirements, Chef Suzy will work with you to provide menus customized to meet your needs.

Q:

What areas do you serve?

A:

Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, Monterey, and San Benito Counties

Monthly Nutrition Fact:

Onions:

If you dry onions, you will intensify their vitamin characteristics. Once dried, ounce for ounce, dried onions have approximately:
  • 9 times the vitamin C
  • 8 times thiamin
  • 10 times riboflavin
  • 9 times niacin
  • 5 times iron
  • 11 times as much potassium as fresh onions

Onions appear to provide protection against heart disease by lowering LDL and increasing HDL cholesterol levels in the bloodstream.
